SENATE RESOLUTION 14

Recognizing James and Lucille Pennington for their outstanding work in West Virginia logging operations and being the recipients of the 2025 West Virginia Logger of the Year award.
Whereas, The West Virginia Forestry Association award is presented for outstanding performance in the logging industry for demonstrating a company’s commitment to safety, community involvement, and excellence in forest management; and
Whereas, James and Lucille are recognized for their hard work, exceptional logging skills, building a company based on honesty and safety, and acquiring an extensive list of landowners requesting J & L Trucking services to timber their land; and
Whereas, James and Lucille grew up in the logging industry from young ages, with Lucille being a second-generation logger. Together they share the operations and maintenance of the logging company, along with farming where they raise beef cattle and sheep; and
Whereas, James and Lucille Pennington believe in helping their community and have demonstrated their generosity by donating wood to a local toy maker, donating beef and firewood to families in need, and lending a helping hand when it is needed. They are also devoted supporters of the West Virginia Forestry Association; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate hereby recognizes James and Lucille Pennington for their outstanding work in West Virginia logging operations and being the recipients of the 2025 West Virginia Logger of the Year award; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to James and Lucille Pennington.
