A BILL supplementing and amending the appropriations of public moneys out of the Treasury by supplementing and amending the appropriations for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026.
WHEREAS, The Legislature passed House Bill 2026, the Budget Bill, during the 2025 Regular Legislative Session, which included therein, Section 8, Awards for Claims Against the State, from funds as designated, in an amount as specified, in part, state road funds, in the amount of $864,750; and
WHEREAS, The Legislature passed House Bill 3152, authorizing for the payment of Claims Against the State; and
WHEREAS, The Legislature passed House Bill 3157, which expedites the process for the payment of Claims Against the State; and
WHEREAS, There has been an increase in number of claims filed due to the expedited process and the authorized amount included in House Bill 2026, the Budget Bill, is insufficient to meet the increased number of claims; therefore
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia: therefore
That Section 8 of House Bill 2026, the Budget Bill, be supplemented and amended to read as follows:
Title II – Appropriations.
Sec. 8. Awards for claims against the state. — There are hereby appropriated for fiscal year 2026, from the fund as designated, in the amounts as specified, general revenue funds in the amount of $1,100,000, special revenue funds in the amount of $250,000, and state road funds in the amount of $964,750 for payment of claims against the state.
NOTE: The purpose of supplemental appropriation bill is to amend an item of appropriation in the aforesaid section and account for the designated spending units for expenditure during the fiscal year 2026.
